If you’re looking to download a certified copy of a registered Will in Karnataka, the process can be done through the Kaveri Online Services portal—provided the Will was registered after 2004. Below is a step-by-step guide to assist you through the process.
Important Update (as of 8th November 2024):
Certified copies of Wills are no longer available online via Kaveri. You must now apply offline at the respective sub-registrar’s office where the Will was originally registered. We’ve retained the online process here for archival purposes and for those who may need the steps for reference.
STEP-BY-STEP PROCESS TO APPLY FOR A CERTIFIED COPY OF A WILL (PREVIOUSLY ONLINE)
Step 1: Locate the Registration Number
To initiate the process, you need the registration number of the Will. It typically appears in the following format:
SRI-3–00XXX-2016–17, where:
- SRI: Short code for the Srirampuram sub-registrar office
- 3: Indicates the Will is stored in Book No. 3
- 00XXX: Five-digit document number
- 2016–17: Year of registration
Step 2: Login to Kaveri Online Services
- Visit Kaveri Online Services.
- Log in with your registered username and password.

- Click on Start a New Application. Refer to below image
- Select Certified Copy – (Online CC) from the available options. Refer to below image
- In the Prerequisite for CC section, click Continue. Refer to below image
Step 3: Enter Document Details
In the application form, fill in the following details:
- Document Type: Document Registration
- District: Rajajinagar (since the Srirampuram sub-registrar office falls under its jurisdiction)
- Sub-Registrar Office: Srirampuram
- Book Type: Book-3
- Document Number: (Enter the 5-digit number from Step 1)
- Year of Registration: 2016–17

Step 4: Proceed with Application and Payment
- Agree to the terms and conditions, then click Proceed, refer to the image below
- The government fee for the certified copy is Rs. 110 (may vary based on page count).
- Click on Make Payment. Payment can be made via UPI, debit/credit card, or net banking.

Step 5: E-Sign and Submit
After successful payment:
- Click on E-Sign and complete authentication using your Aadhaar number. Refer to below images
- Once E-Sign is complete, click on Submit.
Step 6: Download the Certified Copy
Typically, within 3 working days, you will receive an SMS notification that the signed certified copy is ready.
- Log in again to Kaveri Online Services.
- Navigate to Download Signed CC to retrieve the PDF. Refer to below image

- QR Code on each page
- Signature of the Sub-Registrar on the last page

IMPORTANT NOTES
- Only registered Wills can be retrieved through this process.
- Wills registered before 2004 are not available online. You must apply in person at the sub-registrar’s office.
- When applying offline, ID proof of the testator or legal heir is required.
- The offline application fee is approximately Rs. 100, and the processing time is around 5–7 working days.
Update: Offline Process Now Mandatory
As of November 2024, certified copies of Wills are no longer issued online. To obtain a copy:
- Visit the sub-registrar office where the Will was registered.
- Submit a formal application along with ID proof.
- Pay the applicable fee and wait for processing.
