How Are Stamp Duty & Registration Fees Calculated for a Release Deed in Bangalore?

When registering a Release Deed in Bangalore, the Stamp Duty & Registration Fees are determined based on three key factors:

  1. Blood Relatives (Without Consideration Amount)
  2. Blood Relatives (With Consideration Amount)
  3. Non-Blood Relatives (With or Without Consideration Amount)

1. Stamp Duty & Registration Fees for Blood Relatives (Without Consideration Amount)

For transactions where a blood relative releases property rights without any monetary exchange, the applicable charges are:

  • Stamp Duty: ₹5,000
  • Registration Fee: ₹1,000
  • Scanning Charges: ₹35 per page

Who Qualifies as a Blood Relative?

The following family members are considered blood relatives:

  • Father
  • Mother
  • Brother
  • Sister
  • Wife
  • Husband
  • Son
  • Daughter

Note: Aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, and friends do not qualify as blood relatives under this category.

2. Stamp Duty & Registration Fees for Blood Relatives (With Consideration Amount)

If a blood relative releases property rights in exchange for monetary compensation, the charges are:

  • Stamp Duty: 5.1%
  • Registration Fee: 1%
  • Scanning Charges: ₹35 per page

The stamp duty percentage is calculated based on the consideration amount (the agreed-upon transaction value).

3. Stamp Duty & Registration Fees for Non-Blood Relatives (With or Without Consideration Amount)

For transactions involving non-blood relatives, whether monetary consideration is involved or not, the applicable charges are:

  • Stamp Duty: 5.1%
  • Registration Fee: 1%
  • Scanning Charges: ₹35 per page

These percentages are calculated based on the consideration amount or the guidance value, whichever is higher.
